Generate TRN

Go to Government GST Portal (www.GST.gov.in) and look for Registration Tab. Fill Part A of Form GST REG 01 and submit. This will include validating mobile number, Email ID and PAN and choosing State in which registration is sought. Separate registration is required for each State. On successful completion Temporary Reference Number (TRN) will be generated.

Submit all details / documents

Login on the GST Portal using the TRN received. Now fill in Part B of Form GST REG 01. Details and documents required to be submitted include bank details, proprietor / partners / directors / authorized signatories details, business address, jurisdiction, etc.

Sign application & Receive ARN

After filing the application of registration, the application needs to be electronically signed. For companies and LLP, Digital Signature Certificate is mandatory. Others can use Aadhar Based E-sign or OTP based EVC. On successful completion Application Reference Number (ARN) is generated.

Application is checked by GST officers

Once the application is submitted, the application will be scrutinized by the Central / State GST officers for correctness. If any errors are found or clarifications are needed, a notice in Form GST REG-03 is issued. Reply / clarification needs to be furnished electronically within 7 days.

GST Registration sanctioned

If the application is found in order, a GST registration certificate in Form GST REG 06 is issued containing the GSTIN. If the application is complete in all respects, the process is generally completed in 3-5 days. In case the registration application is rejected, the same is communicated in GST REG 05.
